F1 WGP Front-End Layouts

F1 World Grand Prix - PS2 (2001)

Front-End Layouts

Gathered here are the front-end layout designs for all three versions for F1 World Grand Prix that I worked on. During pre-prodution one of the first things I would do would be to create mockups of the front-end and hud system.

The main reason being that it's very beneficial for the team and management to see early on what the end product can look like, it also helps everyone picture the game in their mind.

For all the screens I put them together using Photoshop and Illustrator. Once the design had been locked down and all the screens in the front-end had been laid out, the indiviual elements were cut-up and then assembled in game.

For the F1 WGP and F1 WGP II titles on Dreamcast the front-end system was always resident in memory, so as to remove loading time when switching to and from the game. This meant that for the most part the screens were created using a few typefaces and polygons.
